Koh Chang: Beauty on the Beach
A cheaper alternative is to take one of the many air-conditioned buses (250 baht) in any station or Mor Chit Ekkamai. The bus will take you to Trat and travel time is approximately five hours. Take a spring Ao Thaew Thammachat song and then take a ferry to the island. In addition, there are vans available on Khao San Road and elsewhere from 500 baht per person.
Ferries to and from the island depart every thirty minutes from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM every day, and the cost is 120 baht each way. The journey passes quickly and there is food and drink available.
Upon reaching the island, take a Thaew song to your final destination. The rates run between 50 and 80 baht depending on whether you go to the nearest beach, White Sand Beach (15 minutes), or one of the farthest, Lonely Beach (80 baht). No matter where you decide to go, immediately after landing will be rewarded with stunning tropical landscapes. If you choose to stay is strictly a matter of personal preference, but the island is as close to paradise found anywhere on earth and you will not be disappointed. There is just enough development to meet their basic needs - yes, there are Internet and cable television - but the island is still relatively undeveloped.
Whether you are looking for cheap bungalows, Spartans to four and five star resorts, a wide range of accommodation in Koh Chang.
The white sand area of the island is undoubtedly the most developed; Klong Prao and Kai Bae has wonderfully priced at four and five star with equally spectacular ocean view. Lonely Beach, although not as alone as before yet achieved avoid becoming a tourist destination overdeveloped. Lonely Beach is a favorite destination for backpackers with pristine beaches, bungalows low prices and further Pier white sand beach more developed.
The white sand area of the island is a great place to bring the family. Quiet and yet, with many small restaurants and shops to keep you busy - at least for a few days. You can also do what I did - nothing - that is not there on the beach, drinking beer.
No shopping malls or movie theaters on the island - but there is more than enough to do. If you're tired of drinking one of the many Tiki bar on the beach, or gorging yourself with seafood, you can always take a trip to one of the many waterfalls on the island. Mayom Waterfall Consisting of four levels is probably the most popular of the island's waterfalls. In addition, you can swim in the large pool that rests in front of the falls. Another waterfall worth traveling to is the three-tiered waterfall Klong Plu.
